Maple Leafs and Raptors Playoffs Viewing Party

Application received from Tyler Goodridge on behalf of the Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment at (647) 968-6332/ email: tyler.goodridge@MLSE.com requesting permission to close the road in connection with the Maple Leafs and Raptors Playoffs Viewing Party.

Date of Event: April 20 to June 25 – Dates TBD Based on NHL and NBA Schedule

Location:

  • (Zone 1A) Bremner Blvd, from Lakeshore Blvd W to the east side of the parking garage (servicing 15 & 25 York St and Telus)– area be closed for the full duration of the playoffs. This area will NOT re-open until teams are eliminated.
  • (Zone 1B) Bremner Blvd (Two westbound lanes), from east of York St to the west side of the parking garages – area be closed from 6:00 am to 11:59 pm, depending on game days and times.
  • (Zone 2) Bremner Blvd, from west of York St to the east side of Lower Simcoe St – tentative closure, depending on teams’ success reaching later playoffs rounds.

Notes: Northbound lanes on Bay St to Hagerman St will be used for access in and out of Albert St.

Parade Route:

  • Starting at Better Living Centre (Exhibition Place, 195 Princess Blvd), south on Ontario Dr to Lake Shore Blvd W
  • East on Lake Shore Blvd W to Lower Simcoe St.
  • At Lower Simcoe St the parade will move into the westbound lanes of lake Shore Blvd W and proceed towards York St.
  • North on York St to University Ave, continue north along University Ave to Armoury St W
  • Parade will finish at Nathan Philip Square

Times:

  • Bay St Closure: 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Curb lanes: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Parade: 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
  • Event at Nathan Philip Square: 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Notes:

  • Harlandale Ave, from Yonge St to 50m west of Yonge St will be closed from 4:00 pm (May 4) to 3:00 pm (May 5) for the portable washrooms set up.

  • Yonge St (northbound curb lane), from Sheppard Ave to Greenfield Ave will be closed form 5:30am (May 5) to 12 pm (May 5)

  • West on Wellington St to Bay St (all lanes).

Sporting Life 10K Run

An application has been received from Chris Fagel, from Canada Running Series, at (416) 939-3416 / email: chris@canadarunningseries.com requesting to temporarily close roads to hold the Sporting Life 10K Run.

Date: May 12, 2024

Formation Area: (Times: 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM)

  • Yonge St (Full Road), from Eglinton Ave to Davisville Ave
  • Yonge St (southbound lanes), from Lawrence Ave to Eglinton Ave

10K Race Route: (road closures start at 6:30 AM, with rolling re-openings) Race start is 7:25 AM for Wheelchair, first wave 7:30 AM

  • Starting at Yonge St (1944 Yonge St), just south of Imperial Ave
  • Southbound on Yonge St, from Davisville Ave to Wellington St (full road)
  • West on Wellington St W to Bay St (full road)
  • South on Bay St to Lake Shore Blvd W (full road)
  • West on Lake Shore Blvd W (westbound lanes) to New Brunswick Way
  • Runners will finish between Newfoundland Drive and New Brunswick Way in the westbound lane of Lake Shore Blvd W
  • Once complete, race participants will continue walking west to Exhibition Place to the post-run area at Bandshell Park

Note:

  • Yonge St soft closure will start at 6:30 AM. Traffic will be allowed east & west across Yonge St by Toronto Police Services at major intersections until 7:15 AM, before completing the full closure. There will be no North and South access on Yonge during these times.
  • Southbound York St will remain open from Bremner Blvd to Lake Shore Blvd W for egress from Maple Leaf Square
  • Spadina Ave will remain open for the duration of the closures for the north/south crossing of Lake Shore Blvd W

Finish Line & Dispersal Area: (Times: 4:00 AM to 1:00 PM)

  • Lake Shore Blvd (westbound lanes), from the west side of Bathurst St. to the East side of British Columbia Rd.
  • Lake Shore Blvd (eastbound lanes), from the east side of British Columbia Rd. to the west side of Remembrance Dr. (at HMSC York)

  • West on Wellington St W to enter David Pecaut Square via Wellington

  • Simcoe St, from King St W to Wellington St W
  • Wellington St W, from University Ave to John St
