The demolition of the York-Bay-Yonge ramp is now complete. Work started on April 17 and has been completed ahead of schedule. We appreciate the patience of residents and businesses in the neighbourhood during this work.
With the old ramp now demolished, the contractor has moved forward to complete the construction of the new ramp. Last year, 4 of the 5 piers (or bridge support structure) for the new ramp were built. To complete the construction of the new ramp, the contractor will be adding new girders (steel beams) to form the shape of the new ramp; when those pieces have been installed, the contractor will then install rebar and fill the form with concrete and install the de-icing mechanisms and lastly add asphalt.
In order to construct the new ramp, the eastbound on-ramp at Rees Street will need to be closed intermittently, Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the next 4 weeks to allow work to take place during the day and reduce overnight work.
