Road Closures For Honda Indy Event In Toronto

The Honda Indy event in Toronto this weekend will involve road closures as described below. Businesses in the areas affected are open to pedestrian traffic but some roads will be closed to vehicles.

Strachan Avenue, between Lake Shore Boulevard and Fleet Street
Closed starting at noon on Wednesday, July 12.

Lake Shore Boulevard, from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Drive
Closed starting at 8 p.m. July 13.

Both closures will be in effect until midnight on Sunday, July 16.

There will be no eastbound or westbound traffic during this closure. The only access to Ontario Place will be from the foot of Strachan Avenue.

The TTC will also divert several routes to accommodate the Honda Indy.

The 511 Bathurst streetcar will divert via Fleet Street and Fort York Boulevard
The 29 Dufferin bus will turn back at Springhurst Avenue
The 509 Harbourfront streetcar will turn back at Fleet Street Loop
The 510 Spadina streetcar will turn back at Queens Quay West.

In addition to these road closures, a significant amount of road work is taking place in the city. People are encouraged to take public transit as a greener, faster and more affordable way of getting to their destinations.

Those who need to drive in the general vicinity of this event should allow extra time to get to and from their destinations.
